Close to the end of 2015, I did a weekend getaway with my bestfriend, Kakatete, to Yogyakarta. Why so sudden? Cus I won a return train ticket from PT KAI and two nights free stay at Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta from Altour Travel Indonesia – and those tickets and free stay will expired on December 31 2015. Hahahaha.
Turns out, that weekend getaway was the best decision I made for the last three months of 2015. That was the most needed – for a reason I could not tell here – vacation!
We arrived at Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta in the evening. When we came, there was a convoy of Jeep coming to the gate of Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta. Could you see us there in the mid of the convoy? OF COURSE! We’re part of the convoy! Only different: they came in a Jeep, we came in a motorcycle taxi. Hihihi. HOLLAH Gojek Indonesia!
“Are you with blablabla?”, said a girl with a flower garlands on her hands.
“Nope.”, said me gleefully.
“Are you checking in, Miss?”, asked another girl behind her.
“I am!”
Then a flower garland was put on me. I grinned to Kakatete, who replied with another grin. Dear Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, here you have two new tacky guests who never had a flower garland being put as a welcoming ceremony grinning at each other. 😛
Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta is located at Jalan Palagan Tentara Pelajar, Yogyakarta. It is nothing near the city center. Malioboro and the surrounding area is quite far, but when you stay at this hotel, the crowd and the hip of Malioboro area is the least you want.
Lies on 24hectares of land, Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta is not just a hotel; it’s a sanctuary. I basically feel that if you stay at this hotel, it is a pity if you don’t tour it and make use of its awesome facilities! Relaxing at its best possible way. 😀
The first day, we woke up late and when we opened the curtain (by we, I mean Kakatete), we got this greenery spoiled to our eyes. It was so refreshing I refused to wake up instantly and called the information instead to ask what time the breakfast would be ended. LOL.
The breakfast was fulfilling. From what I heard, breakfast at Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta is among the best of the five stars hotels. I can’t agree to that because, frankly speaking, I rarely have breakfast at a hotel so I can’t compare. Hihi. 😛 But what I can assure you is that they offer MANY choices of breakfast. From porridge to soup to pastry to buffet to everything you could think of. My fave apparently not the main food but the traditional drink they provide on a tricycle decor: JAMU!!
OMG they’re so fresh I believe they come early in the morning from a mbok-mbok jamu (please Google what I meant) who makes all the drink herself! I couldn’t contain myself as I went back and forth to refill my small glass with a mix of Kunir Asam (turmeric and tamarind) and Beras Kencur (rice and kaempferia galanga). It was THAT good! 😀
After having breakfast, we decided to tour the hotel. Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta offers two different routes for this. One is as short as 800 something meters and the other is as long as 2 something kilometers. But of course you can make your own route, like us! We’re a little over 800meters but nothing close to 2kilometers. LOL. We started from the pool area, passed the side of the range and bamboo grove and the spa hut (in which I wonder, do people really take a massage there? It’s an open hut, for goodness sake! I wouldn’t want to have a massage with people looking at me freely in an open area like that. 😛 – or maybe it’s just me), and then continued our way to the side parking lot and got back again to the pool area.
After touring the hotel, I took a shower and that’s when I feel like a princess at the Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta. The bathroom was spacious. Consist of a bathtub, a basin, a toilet, and a shower nook.
It’s not the bathtub that makes me feel like a princess but the shower nook! Imagine when you are under a warm water poured onto your head and you are surrounded by a gold marble and black granite wall and patterned floor; you can’t help but feeling like an Egyptian Princess, can you? 😀
The room itself is nothing too fancy. A bit old school and boring if I may say. But the mattress quality is good. I had a super awesome sound sleep. 😀
The overall service was also great. Everytime I called the front office, they always greeted me with my family name. Which made a funny opening to a conversation.
Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, good morning, may I help you Mister Soetrisno.
Umm.. This is his daughter.
Oh ya. Hello, Dik (a familiar polite call for a kid). How can I help you?
Just ‘miss’, not ‘dik’. Hihi.
Oh ya Miss Soetrisno. Hehehe. How may I help you?
And that happens EVERYTIME I call the front office. LOL!
Another goodness of Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta is of course their sport facilities. From golf range to swimming pool to jogging track and even mini fitness center, they have them all. Free to use for the guests!
Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta also offer a free ride. Not on motorcycle or golf cart, but on Yogyakata’s unique ride: a horse cart! You can hop on the horse cart and tour the village around the hotel for free!
With all these facilities, to me, Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta is not just a place to say for the night. It is a place to stay for the whole day. A sanctuary. A place where you regain your strength. A place where you can let lose and be free. A place like home.
