First time I know about Perdana Botanical Garden in Kuala Lumpur was from the free map that I got from the hotel. Looking at it, this garden tickled my senses to go, see, and feel the tranquility it claims. So one weekend, I slotted some times to go check it out. After that short visit, this garden becomes my fave place to chill quietly, an escape from a busy city of Kuala Lumpur.
Expanded to 100 hectares in size, Perdana Botanical Garden cannot be covered in just one day; but of course if you just want to have a short getaway, you can always come and spend several minutes or hours. It has waterfalls, amphitheater, deer park, hibiscus park, children playground, and also lake! In the garden, there’s a walking path, a tree house, a small pond, and a wooden bridge. Everywhere in this garden, you’ll see greenery. Such a view for a city filled with big tall silver buildings.
To get here, I stopped at Masjid Jamek LRT Station and walk my way towards Jalan Parlimen (I followed the direction from the map). One awful thing is that I asked the way to Perdana Botanical Garden (and I even say ‘Taman Tasik Perdana’ – the translation in Bahasa Melayu) and no one in the station knows. So best way is just to go out towards Jalan Parlimen (where you can see big beige parliament house at the exit) and walk till the junction and you will see the sign to go to Perdana Botanical Garden from there. Other access is from KL Sentral Station. This, I found out after I walked past the big lake towards the tunnel under Jalan Damansara.
On weekend, the garden will be filled with families having picnic at the side of the small lake around the children playground and singles running at the side of the big lake with earphones on or couples holding hands and giggling near the tree house. There are so many things to see and many people to watch. When you’re lucky, you even got a company from the squirrel! Don’t worry about the garden will feel stuffed as it is so big; people will be here and there but you won’t feel stuck in between them.
There’s no entrance fee for this garden, it’s totally free! Great deal for a great refreshment time, aite! 😀
Spending time in Perdana Botanical Garden, eventhough only for several minutes, helps me feel more calm and fresh. Like Central Park in New York, Perdana Botanical Garden serves as an oasis to the busy life in urban city. This time, for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Smile! 🙂
